About the Challenge
BARDA DRIVe, in partnership with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is proud to present Phase 2 of the Mask Innovation Challenge:Building Tomorrow's Mask. This challenge aims to support the development of innovative masks that can protection Americans from respiratory pathogens, such as SARS-CoV-2, and other airborne hazards.
Phase 2 Challenge Details
The second phase of the Mask Innovation Challenge represents a bold step in reimagining respiratory protective devices that can protect the wearer from a variety of airborne hazards. The goal is to accelerate the development of next generation masks that have multi-hazard protection and aim to meet performance and design criteria of the Moonshot Target Product Profile (TPP).
Prizes
The total cash prizes offered for Phase 1 and 2 of the challenge is $500,000. At the conclusion of Phase 1, 10 teams were selected to receive $10,000 each. At the conclusion of Phase 2, 1st and 2nd place teams will receive $150,000 each and 3rd and 4th place teams will receive $50,000 each.
