VACCINES ON DEMAND

Making vaccines where they're needed when they're needed

OVERVIEW

With the Vaccines on Demand program, BARDA'S DRIVe and CBRN division are seeking innovative technologies that advance the capability for manufacturing vaccines on demand at the point-of-service.

Vaccination is a critical medical countermeasure for infectious disease threats. To facilitate the rapid deployment of vaccines during outbreaks/pandemics, progress toward decentralized vaccine manufacturing is needed.

APPROACH

Support the development of Vaccines on Demand technologies/ systems for distributed vaccine production at or near the point-of-service, with a particular focus on nucleic acid-based vaccines.

We are specifically interested in platforms that have:

  • Easily definable inputs
  • Logistically useful footprint
  • Minimal to no release testing
  • Small-scale validation
  • In-line formulation capabilities
  • Plug and play capability

Program Goals
